Parents and GHS students,
Welcome to Germantown High School and Coach Tucker’s Lifetime Wellness class. The following information is everything you will need to know to ensure a successful year in my class. Make sure that you read and understand all of the information, as well as, complete the information portion on the back of this page, this sheet will need to be returned.
Course Description
1. The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop an understanding of fitness concepts and design a personal fitness program while developing an individualized level of health-related activities.
2. This course will contain but not be limited to the following: safety practices, physiology of the cardiovascular system, anatomy of the muscles, concepts and principles of health-related fitness, family life education, nutrition, safety, tobacco alcohol and drugs, and correct techniques of executing exercises.
3. It will also cover various types of exercise and fitness equipment, fitness assessments, personal and group fitness exercises/activities, nutrition, consumer issues, benefits of participation, design and implementation of a personal fitness program.
Class Requirements
The Lifetime Wellness class requires students to spend equal time in the classroom and gym. The students split each 9 weeks with gym and class time.
Gym Portion
When students have time in the gym they will be required to dress-out daily, complete daily warm-up, and participate in daily activity.
Dressing-out (students have 7 minutes to dress out and dress back)
Students need to wear t-shirts, gym shorts, sweatshirts and /or sweat pants, and tennis shoes.
**No tank tops, cut-offs, half shirts, blue jeans, tights, sandals, boots, or dress shoes.
Students will need to wear designated school colors RED, WHITE, or GRAY.
We do have uniforms for sale, but the students are not required to purchase the uniforms.
Daily Warm-up
The daily warm-up consists of 10 flexibility exercises, and two muscular strength and endurance exercise.
Daily Activity
Daily activity will vary depending on the section of the curriculum that we are currently involved with. Each student is expected to participate the in daily activity to the best of their ability.
Classroom Portion
Students will be required to complete assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests in the classroom. All activities are aligned with the Lifetime Wellness curriculum.

Grading
Grading for my class in based on a point system. Each activity and assignment is given a point value and all points are totaled and divided by points possible to obtain students percentage.
Gym Portion Class Portion
Daily Grade 40 points per day Class assignments 10 - 50 points
10= Being on time to attendance line Quizzes 5 - 20 points
10= Dressing out in proper Wellness attire Journal 5 - 20 points
10= Completing daily warm-up Daily bell work 25 points per week
10= Participating in daily activity Projects 100 points
Tests 100 points (both written and fitness based) Tests 100 points
